Serafino Zilli
Serafino Zilli inherited the art of chiseling the pietra serena sandstone from the Monti della Laga from his grandfather Amedeo, who was apprenticed to Neapolitan stonecutters when they were working on the construction of the Palazzo di Giustizia (Palace of Justice) in Rome. He has always lived in Fràttoli, in the Monti di Laga, where he makes his stone sculptures in an outdoor workshop near his house. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and arts and crafts shows, and over the years he has made a great many sculptures, especially fireplaces, which now embellish kitchens in homes all over the mountain areas, or even further away in other parts of the region and beyond.
